Malalison Island is an island not only gifted with white sand beach and diverse sea creatures but also with amazing landscapes. The island became known to the world when typhoon Yolanda hard hit it through the reports of some travelers and the social media.
So our next goal, after our snorkeling, was to see the island panoramically and meet a few pitcher plants.
The trek, lead by ate Rocil, our guide from the tourism office, commenced after passing the beach and a few of the island's small community.
We had an leisurely hike as we were entertained by ate Rocil's stories and were intermittently distracted by the mind-blowing landscapes and sceneries that I had to stop, admire and take snapshots.
We also passed by their elementary school which is located uphill.

We also spotted some people traversing the ridge. I thought there might be something there that I also wanted to check out but according to ate Rocil, some of the locals resides there after they relocated. So I could feel the struggle of going up and down to go to work and school.
Looking on the bright side, it's a cardio workout. Haha!

As we went on, taking in the sights and chit-chatting along the way, we stumbled upon several carnivorous pitcher plants openly waiting for their possible preys.
*with wide eyes*
Yey!!! There goes the reason why this is known as the mini-Batanes of Antique.
Oooh, rolling hills, you are sooo beautiful.
By the way, this island has no electricity which makes them dependent on the generator (which runs from 6m till 10 pm) and solar energy. :)
just a bit more and we're there.. |
When you reach the top, you'll have the best 360 view of the island's beauty.
I think we spend more than an hour here as we were waiting for the clouds to move fast so will witness the sun retire for the day. But we didn't. :(
notice any difference on the sky? |

It's almost twilight when we reached the foot, and the scenery looked like we're in a twilight movie. Haha! Too much imagination huh? Haha!

And that concluded our day, a chock-full of water, and land explorations. :)
