Zamboanga City: Alavar's Restaurant

One of the sought-after restaurants here in Zamboanga is the Alavar's  Seafood Restaurant.
It's a must-try restaurant for tourists and alike because of its famous Curacha dish.

While we were waiting for our food,
I managed to have a quick look at their souvenir section where you can take home
some items like sardines, bagoong, peanuts, Alavar's sauce and a lot more.

Meanwhile, the food that we ordered started to arrive.
We're all excited because we're soo hungry. :p

baked clams
They gave us the baked clams first.
It is made up of garlic, tomato sauce, butter and other spices,
and they melt in your mouth. Hmmm, yummy!

wishing for this to happen one day... but for now, baked clam muna.. *toinks*
Then they served the mangoes with bagoong and our drinks.

Soon after, they brought us the most awaited dish ever, Curacha con Salsa de Alavar's.
Curacha is a deep-sea Crustacean crab found in the waters of Zamboanga.
It is a cross breed between a crab and a lobster.
But they often call it "cockroach" because of its small hairy legs appearing to be the same as that of the insect.

Curacha con salsa de Alavar's sauce (Php 850 - Php 1050)
The dish's sauce is made of coconut milk with unique spices that make it finger licking good. :)
Promise!! :p

Pinakbet or Pakbet
To antagonize the effect of the crab and the Seafood rice,
we had the mixed veggies called Pinakbet. Haha! :p

Alavar Seafood Rice (Php 150)
Time to fill our tummies with this great food.
Attack!!

Since our bellies were more than uberly satisfied,
we roam around the area while waiting for our take away, the Curacha dish.
Yes, you can take home the said dish for your family and friends.
Just tell them about it, and they'll pack it for you.
*It's not meant to be hand carried.*

So we strolled outside the restaurant which looked like more of a house (minus its signage) on the first look.
But when you get inside, the ambiance is different.
It's so homey.
We also had a glimpse of their restroom, and the back part but I don't have their photos.
But just like the same, it's folksy but elegant.

Thank you, Alavar!!
Till next time. :)
